Skye Boat Song:
The Corries are a Scottish band from the 1960’s and his Dad would play their albums for us. They are now part of all of our ‘Favourites’ playlists.
When our kids were little, they would ask Fraser to sing, 'Speed Bonny Boat song' to them before bed. Yes, it is a political song about saving a king...but the words seem fitting...and why can't it be a bedtime song? Shit, we used to sing 'Ring Around the Rosie' as a nursery rhyme. Yah, black plague is super great for bed time...why not a good political song about a Scottish Prince's escape from Government?
Yesterday, as we sent our wishes (etc.) downstream in The River Spey, we felt it fitting to play this song…there are many versions; but this was our favourite....more as a bedtime song and not really politically motivated. (Pinky swear!)
When we were in Las Vegas, with Fraser in ICU, the kids took a day off to go explore ‘The Strip’. They needed a break and I encouraged them to visit the incredible Bellagio flower display at their conservatory. As they took in the beauty; but also feeling a bit odd since their Dad lay in a coma a mere few blocks away; they heard Skye Boat song playing in the background. They believed this was a gift from their Dad to let them know he was with them.
We can find meaning where we want…and maybe we are meant to find that meaning if we are listening closely enough. 🙏
Sweet dreams, Brooke
Well of course Fraser had the Bellagio play the song for the kids in Vegas. I really doubt it's in that many playlists. It's so cool how many "coincidences" there are.
Continue your safe travels and journey.
